The IPv6 API is BSD sockets. However, unless you were a particularly advanced sockets programmer you'll find that the way you used sockets for IPv4 (assuming that multiple IP addresses for a host was the exception rather than the rule) is wholly ineffective for writing useful IPv6-compatible code.
