A couple of years ago I reported, here:

having issues with mutt built with slang on FreeBSD locking up after
resizing terminal windows. This problem persisted through multiple
versions both of mutt and FreeBSD. I mainly addressed it by being careful
not to do that. It was still happening with mutt 2.2.10 on FreeBSD 13.4.
I hadn't tested it for a while, but did recently after building mutt
2.2.14. I've kicked at it quite a bit for 2+ weeks and can't get it to
lock up (*). So yay.
This is just an FYI. And maybe an occasion to post something.
