Hola Matthias,
I'm running it in Gnome terminal 3.22.1 (0.46.1 de VTE +GNUTLS) and
writing is ok. es chars like ñ are correctly displayed.

I've noticed that also the chars in the prompt line of mutt have the same
problem. For example, after quitting a message the prompt at the bottom
says: M-BM-?Posponer el mensaje? ([sM-CM--]/no):
