The other problem I'm getting is with gpgme + pinentry... pinentry-tty
was not working at *all* (just screwing up my terminal). pinentry-curses
works a little better, but I'm seeing some of the characters from the
pinentry dialog linger after entering my passphrase.

This is with the FreeBSD port (Mutt 1.5.23 (2014-03-12))

Is anyone having success with text-based pinentry, gpg2/gpgme, and mutt,
and if so, with what version.
