If answer above was yes, you have a *working* solution which
is much more valuable than a 'solution' that is 'elegant' and
doesn't work.

To paraphrase Michael Elkins: 
All msmtprc files suck. This one just sucks less. 

I suppose you could take care to declare the authenticators
with the most secure one first, but I wouldn't be bothered.
