The problem is I can't swap between accounts using 'c', I believe this

I have finally found a solution I am happy with.

I am using "offlineimap" to sync all my IMAP accounts (2 GMail, 1 Hotmail, 8 Yahoo, 1 Work) to individual folders on my local machine. Then using Mutt to 'c'hange between each folder. Which seems to be the way Mutt is meant to work!?

The beauty of "offlineimap" is that it continually syncs in the background, so emails with large attachments will begin downloading ready for viewing in Mutt.

I followed the instructions given here, which provide a comprehensive (well to a newbie anyway) guide on how to email on *nix:

I also like the solution for SMTP in the background which effectively makes sending large emails instantaneous.

I just wanted to acknowledge the well written page by tomka, might even get Bitcoins just to donate.

Regards,
Esther.
