Is there any way to tell mutt, to display by default the text (body)
in compose menu, so that I can see what text I am actually sending?
You can hit enter on the message body to view it again. I do that rather
often.
I do that too sometimes, which illustrates the need for it to be
available as a feature, because it is inefficient having to do it
manually. Is there some stanza that could achieve this automatically?
No, it does not illustrate a "need" but provides you an opportunity the
alter the headers before sending your post. Supposedly *most* people are
finished editing the "body" when they exit the editor and viewing that
text is finished. Would you prefer that mutt emulate the "other" system
that consistently asks you "Do you really want to
<what-ever-function-you-indicated>"?
Yes, when I exit the editor, I am done with editing. That does not mean
however, that I could not see the text of my message. A the moment 70%
of the lower screen in compose editor is empty (black). Why not use that
empty space to display the message-to-be sent? That would seem logical
to me.
I suppose *you* could edit your .muttrc and configure your chosen editor
to "ask-yes" or "ask-no" to indicate your indecision.
