this does not sem to be a mutt problem, right?
it's probably your terminal.  so don't
fix mutt - fix the terminal!

use rxvt or xterm-color - and
dont reverse bg with fg color!

PS: go get a real name and fix
that "localdomain" in your MID!
and get a hair cut, too!  ;-)
