Yepp.

It would be a first step, to enable naming macro sequences which are
(internally) extended by replacing just the strings. So that you can use
the name of a previously defined macro as a placeholder within following
ones.

But to me it is more difficult than it may sound. If a user changes the
sequence for macro named 'a' which is used in 'b' and 'c' as well those
affected would have to be found and changed, too. Re-reading the config
is not an option because all changes to the configuration during
run-time would get lost... Recording changes sounds stupid. Maybe
completely dump the current options set to a temporary file and re-read
this one (excluding the users config files)?

Sounds interesting, anyways.
