Ah, well. Perhaps three possible messages to the user are in order.

"Couldn't find a signature."
"Found a signature, and it is valid."
"Found a signature, and it is invalid."

If there is no signature, then it cannot be valid, and it cannot be
invalid, so let's not confuse the issue (or the user) by saying it is
one or the other.
