Now that is some serious help. Thank you and Bruno, both.
I did, indeed, find that an old version of mutt was being launched.
Don't ya love path conflicts?

So, while I was sorting that out, I downloaded the _very_ latest
version, as well as OpenSSL, and compiled them both. I won't get
caught behind again.

Ok. That's prominently written in the IMAP document. In this case,
however, I was ignorant of the fact that I was launching the wrong
version. :(

Initialization == RCFile. Got it. Perfect.
Not having the commands working got me to putting the docs under the
microscope. I guess I was putting too much into it.

I think that attempting to alter the document to guide a person who
is using the wrong version might be the wrong target audience. I
feel like such a newbie for making such a mistake. But, if I spot
any corrections needed in the documentation in order to better
address the latest version, I'll be sure and bring them up.

Well, with this "major breakthrough" (*laugh*) I think I'm on track
to getting this working. One stop shopping for all my mail! woohoo!

Thanks for the patience.
