Sorry if this is pointed out in the manual...I missed it. For those who might not think about it (like me), do NOT save your messages (using an mbox-hook) to a mailbox which matches the regular expression used in the same hook. For example:
mbox-hook python-list python-list-save This will delete all the messages you think you are saving. At least it wiped out several hundred saved messages for me. :( It might work to do mbox-hook ^python-list$ python-list-save but I haven't tried it.
