Not to be too picky, but are you using 'f'orward instead of 'b'ounce to send along the message? Forwarding will rewrite the message and could, indeed, make some changes -- and so your settings are worth noticing. Bouncing, on the other hand, takes the message and feeds it directly back to the MTA to pass on, with no other changes -- and so if the .doc wasn't in-line for you, it shouldn't be in-line for your recipient. % I've read the list archives on forwarding a message with attachments but % these don't seem to apply to bouncing.
