Those are always fun! % % I have mutt-1.2.5i installed as the recommended mail client on my system. % Compile options are: ... % -HOMESPOOL -USE_SETGID +USE_DOTLOCK +USE_FCNTL -USE_FLOCK ... Where is mutt_dotlock? Can she see it? Can she run it? % % I set up two accounts for a new user yesterday. Mutt insists on opening % her mailboxes read-only. Even if I, as root, su to her account and % explicitly run /usr/local/bin/mutt to make totally certain I'm not hitting What if you copy /var/spool/mail/<user> to /tmp/<user> and then try mutt on that folder? Odds are that it will open just fine. % an alias, with read_only explicitly set to no in .muttrc, the mailbox is % still opened read-only. File ownership and permissions on the mailbox and % on /var/spool/mail are correct. Although that may be so, it doesn't tell us what they are. Could you please show us what ls -lFda /var/spool/mail `which mutt` `which mutt_dotlock` gives you? % % % Any ideas? Diagnostic tips? I'm baffled. HTH & HAND % % % -- % ********* Fight Back!
