1. Don't use s/mime - use plain old ascii-armored mails, with the pgp key
looking like a lot of gibberish at the bottom of your mail.
2. Ask your friend to ditch outhouse sexpress.
Pegasus Mail has a pretty good pgp plugin called qdpgp, by the way ;)
