No, this is for when I want to send mail. I can filter (with procmail,
of course) my incoming mail just fine.
What I really have is a whole bunch of different mailboxes in $folder --
way too many to manage any more. I'd like to break them up by classes so
that all of my fraternity brothers are in one group (with mailboxes under
$folder/APD), everyone at my last contract in another (under $folder/PFE),
all of my web clients broken out (...), everyone at church, my family,
and so on. By breaking my correspondents (currently sitting at about 850
aliases in my aliases file and about 1500 mail folders in my mail dir)
into groups I can get a much better handle on things.
Now, mutt is clearly the place to handle this, since I'm talking about
writing the fcc at send time and occasionally saving a message from my
spoolfile. If mutt will never do this, then I may work up a little
script to handle writing an Fcc: and then pass off to the real $sendmail
and call it as $sendmail, but who wants to do that? :-)
