Yes, you really do. It could be the same street or same building or same
block, depending on how the cable company broke the bandwidth apart, and
eventually you share with everyone as you go up to the head end itself
and out to the cable co's uplink to the 'net.
In general, you ought to get fairly good performance through your cable
modem, but the reverse *has* been known to happen, and that mostly due to
poor planning and implementation on the cable side.
