In addition to the other info you've gotten, maybe the folder has just
gotten corrupted. Move the file contents elsewhere (or just rm it, if
you don't have anything important in there <g>) and start from scratch,
with either no file or a file that is empty. After you've gotten some
more mail delivered there, try opening it with Mutt again. If you get
the same problem still, that means the mail delivery *before* Mutt sees
the mail is creating a non-standard folder format. If the problem is
fixed, then the folder had just gotten corrupted somehow but you should
be fine from now on.
