It is most probable that you have 'edit_hdrs' turned on, an you keep
forgetting that there has to be an empty line between the Headers of
your meassage, and the 'body'.
Mutt then thinks your URL is an 'http:'-header, and sends it as header
which means that you won't see the URL in the body. You'll probably find
it if you look at the headers (bound to 'h' by default)
