Like it was just recently detailed, latest version of procmail supports
Maildir natively, so your rules just need to be like:
:0
* <pattern>
a-maildir-folder/
(note the trailing slash)
If you don't have and don't want to get the latest procmail, then you
can get a program like "safecat" and use "|safecat a-maildir-folder" as
the delivery instruction.

I'd say maildir is worth it (no locking is a *big* win), and you can
always use a program such as maildir2mbox if you ever have the need to
convert to folder contents to a format that is read by pretty much
every mail tool there is... I don't really know how widely MH folders
are supported anyway, it might not be any more common than maildir
support.
