I used to get "lockd: failed to monitor <IP>" errors in my messages file
before I upgraded to Linux 2.2.5 or 2.2.9 or something like that...
(Now I'm running 2.2.13 and they're still gone.)  I don't use fcntl with
mail but apparently some other program did.  Anyway, upgrading the
kernel of both the server and client machine helped.
