Or, rather, I didn't, because I put a U+028c between the m and the t
in /mʌt/.

Can anyone think why the Unicode character didn't get through the
mailing list? If I send it to myself via a machine that forwards to me
it gets through.

It's \312\214 in octal, by the way.
