If this is a problem related to a new glibc, you have to recompile
a few things, e.g. ncurses and slang, they have to be linked against
the new library. Also libstdc++ has to be recompiled, if you use
gcc-2.95.x it is included there.
Btw: gcc-2.95.1 doesn't work correctly together with glibc-2.1,
you should upgrade to glibc-2.1.2 then.
