I agree with you, I'm not arguing,... but I would like to point out 
that there ARE mail clients which by default expect you to insert
replies ABOVE the replied-to mail. The one I have the misfortune to 
be familar with is Lotus Notes the preferred, in fact ONLY, mail client
allowed at my office. Even worse, it does not quote the replied-to mail,
I cannot find any way to MAKE it quote the replied-to mail, so it is a
pain to carry on a conversation several replies deep using that stupid
program.

One would HOPE Lotus knew what they were doing, but I doubt it. Can you
give a reference (RFC, for example) as evidence for what you say here?
