 I agree that this is essentially a bug in the library implementation. I
 just started to investigate it to see whether the current behaviour was
 really mutt's fault.
 I am not sure what is the usual policy for this kind of issues in mutt:
 Work around the problem? Or wait for it being fixed upstream?

 If the latter is the case (which would be my personal preference anyway)
 then this ticket can be closed as "wontfix" from my point of view.

 Probably we could still mention some workarounds somewhere in the
 documentation?
