I see, that makes sense.  Thanks for doing this, Rich.  I've been
distracted and it looks like I have some post-release issues to clean
up, but it will be good to take a closer look at this.

David and Vincent, thanks for taking a look.  You two have been around
much longer than I have, so I obviously trust your judgement.  If you
see things you like and have the time, feel free to work towards getting
it merged.
