Thanks for your feedback.  Richard initially approached Michael (me) and
I off-list, but after voicing my reservations I directed him here to get
other developer's feedback.

The patches were my biggest concern, followed by the fact this isn't
really near the top of the list of things needing done.

You raise another good point: reviewing large-scale changes (even,
or especially, unnecessary cosmetic ones) is an additional burden we
can probably do without right now, given the small size of the active
development team.

Other's feedback is most welcome, but I am disinclined to give my
support to this effort too.
