Freebsd's make apparently expands it to nothing for the txt2c rule.  See
<20150805061645.GA15891@c720-r276659> in mutt-users.  I was able to
replicate the problem.

The autoconf manual also mentions it's non-portable in the "Portable
Make Programming" section.

In any case, this fix was easy enough - let automake deal with it.  :-)
