     Type: defect | Status: new
 Priority: minor | Milestone:
Component: mutt | Version: 1.5.21

--------------------+-------------------------------------------------------
On my Mac OS X Mountain Lion I compiled mutt 1.5.21
 - from the source
 then
 - using port program
 then
 - using brew program

However all three ways of installing show that the character
Š (capital S with "hook") is wrongly displayed as <?> in the name of the
sender . All other characters seem to work. This is when the index_format
contains "f" to display only the name.

When changing the index_format to include "F" instead of "f", the name is
 displayed correctly.

When opening the message, the character is displayed correctly inside
message, only "down" in the "status bar" it is wrong in the
 name of sender.

When I reply to the message, it says On ... xxxx <?>xxx wrote - the
character here is wrong as well.

Locales en_US.UTF-8, the character Š is displayed correctly in all other
 programs in the terminal.

That "Š" person is using MS Outlook to send mail.

 See screenshots for explanation.
