I think you should say how you compiled Mutt (e.g. the configure options).
You should also try to see where the invalid address 0xdfdfdfdfdfdfdfdf
appeared for the first time. If your platform has a utility like valgrind,
this can also be useful.
Note that it can also be a bug on your platform (C compiler or C library).
