I think on Linux you're supposed to invoke ld via gcc rather than directly (at least if glibc is involved - there are symbol versioning issues that ld doesn't always handle properly by itself). The library itself will be somewhere under /usr/lib/gcc-lib/ and gcc knows how to find it. imc
