( I assume you mean this as an example of sending the reply
to the author , in case when Reply-to munging is used )
Try that again. You will notice that after you deleted the list address
the message will be sent to /dev/null as there are no recepients
listed any more. You must either :
- type in the address of the author ( a big PITA )
- copy the authors address from the original message and paste
it into the reply ( a smaller PITA , but still a lot more than
anything needed in the non-reply-to scenario )
It is "three or one clicks" versus "one or six clicks".
Explanation :
- no Reply-To: munging :
- reply to list only :
1.) click on REPLY
2.) select the authors address ( either by double-clicking or drag-selecting )
3.) hit BACKSPACE
- reply to author only :
1.) click on REPLY
- Reply-To: munging :
- reply to list only :
1.) click on REPLY ( or REPLAY-ALL, behaves the same in Netscape )
- reply to author only :
1.) select the authors address in the original mail
2.) click COPY ( or press ctrl-c )
3.) click REPLY
4.) select the list address
5.) hit BACKSPACE
6.) click PASTE ( or press ctrl-v )
( it may be one step less on UNIX where SELECTing and COPYing are one step )
