I have significant hearing loss in my left ear, so music tends to
sound wrong without using a balance control. Well, my MP3 player does
not have a balance control, so I was wondering if a feature could be
added to LAME that would allow me to selectively lower just a single
channel? Something like a -scaleL and -scaleR switch. This way, I
can encode my MP3s with the proper balance built-in.

I can do this right now, if I rip to WAV, edit the WAV, then encode.
However, then I have to manually add the MP3 tags, and editing the
WAVs is a drag. As the scale function is already built into LAME, it
seems like it would be trivial to all a -scaleL and -scaleR function.
