I have no argument with Audubon's report or the timing of it.
Something needs to be done about the climate issue and its effect on
birds and other animal species (including us humans).

My problem is this: In order to reach the greatest number of people
with their findings, groups like Audubon and others have to rely on
the mainstream media (newspapers, TV, etc...) and that is always full
of risks.

- Does the media cover it the way you want them to
- After breaking it down into something easily read by their audience
does it even resemble the original report
- Lots of important information is left out and that makes it easier
to pick apart

If a group of bird loving people like us can see some flaws with the
Star Tribune's story (which may not even resemble Audubon's report)
what will global warming skeptics and deniers be able to do with it
(just read the comments about the story online to get a glimpse)

Is it best to keep these reports within the scientific/bird/climate
change communities and use them as a "call to action" or is it best to
try and get the word out to as many people as possible even if that
carries a risk of backfiring.
