replacing the email list would result in my dropping out. web forums always sound cool, "but you can get to them anywhere." I can get to my email easily anywhere: laptop, desktop, on the road, iphone, android whereever because ever OS has an email client that allows me to be touched. Web forums don't reach out and touch me. Unfortunately, the reality is that I am trained to look in my email for action items, not "another web site." I need to get emails from the forums, or the forums don't exist. Emails never worked right with forums.asp.net, so I never went there, am not active, and the forum doesn't exist to me.
