Update: The 'Tools->Add-in manager->Gallery->Mobile Development' showed and option for 'Mono for Android' which gave an error when I selected install citing a mono.posix.dll as not being found. It also gave the same error when I tried to install the SubVersion add-in. Despite this, however, both packages are now ticked and marked as installed. I also now have the 'Mono for Android' option displayed and paths set up correctly. In addition I now appear to be able to create 'Mono for Android' applications and class libraries.
The only question remaining is this, is the mono.posix.dll problem a real one and is it going to come back to bite me in some other way? Can anyone shed any light on this please?
