Whatever you put in cant be as bad as the time I was patiently waiting my turn after a lady was using it just in front of me.
I watched her for some time on the same tyre, she used a complete 20p worth of pump time on one tyre, then returned and put another 20p in and worked on the same tyre. It was a 3 series BMW. I got out to see what the problem was and noticed over 50 psi and the pump wouldn't go any higher. I looked on the little guide and saw the 3 series a lot lower and told the lady what it should be, and was she using the recommended pressure as per the handbook? At that point the second 20p expired and she replaced the hose and was getting back into her car saying the handbook was at home and her husband had told her to "fill them up". I don't know what the other tyres were set. She drove off with two your children in the back! Darwinian theory at work I guess? Accidentally put 35 in once (tin top pressure), a 'vintage ride'!!
