rationale:
Net::IM is a bit like libpurple for Perl. It is to be a single
entry point for managing multiple connections to multiple Instant
Messaging networks from one object.
The first protocol supported is Yahoo Messenger due to the broken
state of the current Net::YMSG. The AIM and MSN protocols will be
added in the future. Furthermore, anybody can implement their own
protocol handlers that can work with Net::IM.
