So they can be useful for what type of video? >>within the video, bit square dots and the whole picture look like >>painted (some kind of "oilpaint"). For noisy color movies I might use something > like "yuvmedianfilter -t 0" but almost all of the time I do not > do any medianfiltering at all. I played around a bit with the video using the filters and then yuvplay at the end and not mpeg2enc and i realized that these "painted effects" don´t seem to come from any of the filters. But when i use mpeg2enc to create the video file i have these "painted effects", on my old box i have version 1.8.0 of mjpegtools installed and i did exactly the same command(s) there i don´t get these "painted effects" I try to get some screenshots out and put them online. I used mpeg2enc with -f 8 -D 10 -E 10 -q 5 -b 7800 -K tmpgenc - 4 1 -2 1 -o test.m2v Exactly the same cmd on the old box didn´t produce these "painted effects" in the video. Some bug in mpeg2enc maybe? >>I always used yuvdenoise -s 4,5,5 -g 64,255,255 -t 3,3,3 for really old >>VHS source matterial.
