Well... breaking it into pieces would be better than nothing... there's a 
handy command called 'split' to do the job.

I'm not sure. Either in mplex or in the extractors.  The only way to know for 
sure is to see if you .ac3 'magically' works on a different machine or 
reproduce the problem and track down exactly where/ how the AC3 reader in 
mplex is messing  up.
