Hello everyone, Joined this and the transcode list about a week ago and have been lurking to see if I am in the right place. Please don't yell at me if I am wrong, please just direct me to the right place.Still not sure if this is the right place to pose this question but I figure the people here sure know a lot more than I do. You all speak a lot more complicated language than I do.
Sent a very similar message to the transcode list and they provided a few suggestions which did not work out. They told me this is where the mplex experts hang out, so here I am. Some background: Recently upgraded to SuSE 10.0 from 9.2. Running an AMD 64 bit system. In 9.2 I had no problems ripping and copying DVDs using vobcopy, transcode etc. from the CLI. Most of those packages have been upgraded. Really don't know if that has anything to do with the problem. Anyway, I can still build my vob's separate my audio and video, and shrink my video using tc. Problem comes when I try to rebuild the files to an mpeg with mplex using the command; "mplex -f 8 -o "movie%d.mpg" shrink.m2v movie.ac3" The command errors out with the following. Here are some lines from the first try: linux:/workspace # mplex -f 8 -o "movie%d.mpg" shrink.m2v movie.ac3 INFO: [mplex] mplex version 1.8.0 (2.2.4 $Date: 2005/08/28 17:50:54 $) INFO: [mplex] File shrink.m2v looks like an MPEG Video stream. (bitrate?) but I just don't know, or if so, how to fix it. Nothing in man mplex jumps out at me. More info: I deleted everything and tried again. Same result. Then I tried a different DVD ( that I had copied successfully before) and got the same result. I have google-d, howto-ed man-ed and faq-ed for hours on end without finding the answer. The most helpful was LinuxQuestions but even there, although the problem was brought up, there were no answers. Really hope this is the right place and that somebody can help me. As I said before, I never had any problems in SuSE 9.2 with the older versions of this software.
