Limit of 99 titles on a DVD might be one reason. Depending how sensitive the scene splitting is you could end up with hundreds of what the the program thinks are different scenes. Perhaps you want to put several very small scenes together in one larger seamless piece? Could be more reasons. Without knowing if the goal is to ARCHIVE/PRESERVE (which means as little editing as possible) or creating a "Best Of" compilation it's hard to guess what approach would be the best one to take. My personal preference would be to create 2 versions of the capture: one is a digital master that's as close to the original as possible (no editing, no color correction, nothing) and then the edited "Hightlights/Best-Of" compilation. If you're really paranoid (and the original material is worth preserving) make a backup copy of the digital master. If the original tapes are worth saving then they're worth investing a little time and effort in their archival - at least that's how I feel. If they weren't worth the time then just toss 'em out and be done with it and think of all the time that's been saved :) Cheers, Steven Schultz ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by Yahoo.
