Hallo

I recently found an Linux Media Labs LML33 video card, and finally had
some success using it. I first tried a A7V/KT133 Suse 9.1 for which i
needed to compile drivers, and 9.3 which has them compiled as modules,
without success. I think all of you were right, and via==bad. After a
required upgrade (P4P800-VM) i ran flawlessly at the first try using
Suse 9.3. So i am happy now, and mjpeg tools are becoming my favorite
tools :-)

The mjpegtools also worked with Suse 7.3 very well ;)

- what are the default devices for xawtv and lavrec, because i always
have to specify which device to read from : xawtv without -c device
does not show anything, but xawtv -c /dev/video0 shows good stuff (my
/dev/video is a symlink to /dev/video0)

Normall the mjpegtools use /dev/video /dsp /mixer (take a look at the lavrec manpage for more information). Maybe it cannot open the video device because of file restrictions on /video, have you checked that ?

With wich user are use recording ?

- i always have to use -U with lavrec, otherwise audio task dies. With
-U it works, but i don't know why mmap should fail ;-)

Maybe because the audio card does not support that. Have you read that the audio card supports mmap recording ?

- why does VIDIO_QUERYFMT ioctl fail on my card ? isn't it supported ?
if it is the case, how can i know which ioctl i can use ?

No idea.

- xawtv is rendering in overlay (at least it seems to me it does), and
i want to render some very basic graphics on top of the graphic
content i get from the card. Note this is a project i want to develop,
and not a problem linked to another application. Is it possible ? Have
you any pointer to the tools/specs in which i can find the information
i need ?

Sorry again no idea.

auf hoffentlich bald,

Berni the Chaos of Woodquarter
