There are a number of other video related project for windows which are open source, ie virtual dub and avisynth. These only support Microsoft Optimising Compiler. It would probably be good it mjpegtools had support for this same compiler. The problem for many windows users I suspect is the cost of the microsoft development system. If the downloadable toolset were able to be used for all three program sets then the interest may be more. Having said that I have search the mjpegtools archive and not seen a clamour for such support in the last couple of years. Given the change from 1.6.2 to the CVS with removal of assembler files etc it would seem that the VC project files are likely to require substantial reworking and are certain not to work in there current form. I have a copy of the directory and at some point will examine the feasibility of getting the VC Toolkit working. If I do succeed I will certainly submit this for reinclusion. In short there would certainly be no objection from me if they were removed.
