I do have, now that I think of it, a disk (those removable IDE
drive kits are great for having multiple systems/distributions around)
with 2.95.4 (Slackware 10 uses it as I recall). Too late now to fire
up the system and give it a try. I have built the cvs version of
mjpegtools on the system a few weeks ago without any problems though.

I agree - there's something awry with the gcc/g++ setup (and I see
from your following posting) that you moved the stdc++ stuff aside
and things started working (not succeeding - just running ;))

I've had great success with the SuSE as far as a build environment.

Ok - that's fine. Just one of those things worth checking on - libtool
can reach out and bite (so can automake ;)).

Hmmm, interesting. I'll have to see if I can get ffmpeg's AC3
files working - DVD Studio Pro rejects them (channel rematrixing info
is missing or incorrect), didn't know they were doing anything with
        DTS.

Using DTS would be a good excuse to get a dual layer burner though
since you're giving up quite a chunk of bit budget for audio ;)
(Downside with the dual layer media, aside from price, is spotty
compatibility with settop boxes according to the articles I've been
        reading).

Some of the other developers use Debian as I recall - that's why
the problems mentioned earlier in the evening caught me by surprise.

Perhaps it's necessary to use the '-L' option with mplex to specify
        the format of the file?

        --lpcm-params | -L samppersec:chan:bits [, samppersec:chan:bits]

I've not used PCM audio recently so I'm a bit hazy on the subject.

        Cheers,
