Did you run thru a double blind test using an A/B/X box? :) > Eh? It'd take the schematics to be sure but the way I was under the impression that it worked was: if the VCR has a S-Video output then the signal was sent straight out without being "composited" but if there was NOT an S-video output then the signals would be combined and sent out the "RCA" connectors. It is getting more difficult to find VCRs with S-video outputs these days - JVC's about the only company still making them. So most folks will be using the composite connectors and would benefit greatly from the Y/C separation in the a->d conversion unit. > I already have a Monster S-Video cable, I'm just > not using it because I thought I was getting better results this way. You might give it a try - the 'Y/C' like on the advc300 will go out since the signals are already separate. > Do I have to start doing my videotapes all over AGAIN?! :-( Not at all. The Y/C separation in the advc300 is, I'm sure, very good but IF using the S-Video output on the VCR avoids compositing in the first place then that's a Good Thing.
