I think you're using a weird lavrec command. What command are you using
to capture?

That means you didn't compile with SDL support. You need SDL and
SDL-development packages during compilation, and then it will work as
expected. You can also use our precompiled RPMs, they're compiled with
SDL support as well.

This error message is slightly cryptic, but you need to be root to do
this... Users cannot set a framebuffer (that'd cause very bad security
things if they set the wrong one).
