This sounds like a different problem. I'm not having audio problems at all - just the complete freezes on playback some of the time. > > One other thing which might be relevant - when viewing the bitrate display > > on this player, every join is associated with a very brief, high bitrate > > peak. True. However, at the point of transistion between the two source mpegs, both mpegs are uniform black with no audio - all the fading has already been done. Even through the fading the bitrate remains modest - 3Mbps or there abouts. Then just at the point of transition the rate jumps very high very briefly - more than 9Mbps for less than 0.1 seconds - before returning to the ~<3Mbps before and during the following fadeup. > > I wonder whether there's something associated with the joins which causes > > some players to behave strangely - either due to mjpegtools or the way > > dvdauthor joins mpegs? > You could make a big mpeg and then set a chapter ode many chapters. Unfortunately that wasn't practical in this situation. > You could also move to dvdauthor 0.6.10 mabye that helps. I have downloaded that version and may get a chance to try it in the next day or so. Reading the HISTORY file doesn't indicate that anything in this area has changed but I guess that doesn't mean much.
