Yes, using a named pipe:
$ mkfifo stream.yuv
$ transcode [...] -y yuv4mpeg,mp2enc [...] -o stream.yuv \
--write_pid /tmp/transcode.pid &
$ cat stream.yuv | y4mscaler [...] | mpeg2enc [...]
