The only thing I think now is that lav2yuv doesn't properly read the dv
file. 
If you try:
> lav2yuv capture.avi | yuvplay

You should see the movie. If you non't se it lav2yuv is not able to read
the dv file. You have to use the smilutils (http://kino.schirmacher.de/)
instead.

Yes. But you should not need that option. to tell it the programms. You
only need it if you have a nonconform framerate and framesize. 

I also have found another problem (mplex: -m 1) in the lav2mpeg script
I'll fix. But I this won't help you with your problem.
